Accounts Guide

Purpose

View, search, filter, create, and maintain customer accounts in Exceed. Accounts are the base records used to organize opportunities, contacts, ownership, country, status, and revenue information.


Before You Start

  • You must have access to the Accounts menu.
  • To create a new account, prepare the required account information:
    • Business Name
    • Account Code
    • Account Status
    • Country
    • Account Manager
  • Use the Strategic Account checkbox only when the account should be treated as strategically important.
  • Make sure the account does not already exist before creating a new one.

Steps

  1. Go to Accounts > Tab Accounts.
  2. Use the Search field to find an account by name or related information.
  3. Use filters when needed:
    • Account Manager
    • Country
    • Strategic Account
    • Status
  4. Click Save Filter if you want to reuse the current filter selection later.
  5. Click Clear Filters to reset the account list.
  6. Review the account list, including:
    • Account Code
    • Name
    • Country
    • # Opportunities
    • Annual Revenue
    • Status
    • Last Activity
  7. To create a new account, click New Account.
  8. Fill in the required fields:
    • Business Name
    • Account Code
    • Account Status
    • Country
    • Account Manager
  9. Fill in optional information when available:
    • Legal Name
    • Legal Entity
    • Account ID
    • Phone
    • Website
  10. Select Strategic Account if applicable.
  11. Click Save.

Important Rules

  • Accounts should be created before related opportunities or contacts are registered.
  • Required fields marked with * must be completed before saving.
  • The Account Code should be unique and easy to identify.
  • The Account Status should reflect whether the account is active, inactive or prospect.
  • The Account Manager defines ownership and accountability for the account.
  • Incorrect account data may impact opportunity tracking, contact association, reporting, and pipeline visibility.

Common Issues

Issue: Account does not appear in the list
Likely cause: A filter is active or the search term does not match the account data.
How to solve: Click Clear Filters and search again.

Issue: Save button does not create the account
Likely cause: One or more required fields are empty.
How to solve: Review all fields marked with * and complete the missing information.

Issue: Account is assigned to the wrong manager
Likely cause: The wrong Account Manager was selected during creation.
How to solve: Open the account details and update the Account Manager field.

Issue: Duplicate account was created
Likely cause: The existing account was not found before creating a new one.
How to solve: Search by account name, code, or country before creating a new account. If a duplicate already exists, contact an administrator or the account owner.

Issue: Account is missing from opportunity creation
Likely cause: The account may not exist, may be inactive, or may not be available based on permissions.
How to solve: Confirm the account exists in Accounts > Accounts and verify its status and ownership.
